The New Internet Wilderness:
What you need to know about 1000 new domain name extensions & IPv6

This year, the Internet will expand substantially with the release of more than 1000 new domain suffices (from the previous 27) and the adoption of IPV6, enough for every atom on planet earth. We can digitally label everything to find it on the internet, if it is useful.  This proliferation of digital content has its downside. Along with the availability of IPv6 and new digital infringement laws, business owners and brand managers will have a lot on their plate.  Speaker LYE Chan Loy, founder and MD of Adicio.net, will give you a basic layman's guide of this new landscape.

Research statistics also tell us that : 24% of total Internet bandwidth was used to download copyright content without permission. 25% of world’s emails advertise fake or unlicensed drugs. Cybersquatting costs trademark holders over $1Mil per brand per year. Tensions exist among these groups : Content and right owners VS Consumers VS Government and Regulators VS ISPs and DC Hosts. In this environment brand owners are challenged to adopt a pragmatic approach to protect their assets, monitor for infringement and to take enforcement actions.

Session Speaker Chan Loy has spent his career spanning 3 decades in the Technology sector, working with HP and IBM before joining the Internet Industry, during its infancy. He is currently the Managing Director of Adicio in Singapore, part of the NetNames group of companies. He holds a Bach Elec Eng Degree and an MBA from NUS.
